Induction - do you really need it?

In the UK women are told that normal pregnancy is 40 weeks whereas in France women are told that "normal" pregnancy continues to 41 weeks. Why is this important? Because at 40 weeks most women are told that they should not allow their pregnancy to continue beyond 41 weeks as there is increased risk of their babies being stillborn so they should be booked in for an induction at 41 weeks in case they haven't given birth. What is wrong about this? I can't put it better than this post: https://www.birthpracticeandpolitics.org/single-post/2019/03/25/Is-induction-of-labour-morally-justifiable
